burn take three

so friday morning i woke up at 5am (!) and went to the hospital for my 5:45am appointment. i went to pre-op, where they told me i couldn’t go under with a tongue ring, and then agreed we would need pliers to remove it, so they let me into surgery anyway. oh well.

all in all, i was under for about 2 hours, and apparently the first thing i asked for when i came out was RED jello. and was very specific. i don’t remember this, but damn was i happy when red jello magically appeared on my bedside table in the recovery room. my friend denise was also there when i woke up, she has been awesome and at almost all of my doctors appointments so far. she said she was my sister to get in the door, but i like to think she is my east coast mom.

anyway, i also go a special delivery of a loaner ipod touch loaded with angry birds, and my favorite chicken soup from sarge’s.

i stayed in the hospital overnight, where i was in a private room with beautiful views of the east river that almost made up for the screaming child and the bed that never stopped moving. (it’s apparently supposed to recalibrate with my movements to help prevent bedsores or some bs.)

anyway, i spent the last few days on the west side, and went back to the doctor today. they removed 12 of the 28 staples from my leg (who knew?) and cleaned me up a bit, and fitted me for my “personalized compression garment” which i may have to wear for a year. i chose black, because black goes with everything. also, personalized compression garments are totally in for next season, people.

so i will know more after i go back wednesday, but for now, no work for the next two weeks, mostly because it is hard to keep my foot elevated at my desk.

wish me luck. also, come visit. i am going completely stir crazy.
