called for jury duty in this wonderful state of new york. yes, i am one of those weirdos who finds the prospect of serving on a jury fun and interesting, and (mostly) not an imposition.</p> <p>yesterday, my turn came.</p> <p>now, having never been called before, i will admit, i was (am) a bit confused because this is a GRAND jury summons. the language is somewhat confusing. it doesn’t say anything about what i had heretofore believed to be true - that i just show up, hang around for two days, and wait to be picked. this simply says: “grand jurors are randomly selected to serve for a period of approximately four weeks, monday through friday, either 10:00AM to 1:00PM, or 2:00PM to 5:00PM.” i was expecting them to give me the two dates i have to show up, and explain that maybe i will have to stay more. so i have tried to google the difference between a grand jury summons and a regular (or petit as i found it to be called) jury summons.</p> <p>neither nyjuror.gov nor wikipedia were particularly helpful in helping me make a distinction. so i will enter with the assumptions that my assumptions were correct, that grand jury duty is regular jury, and that show up one day in december really means show up probably only two days. unless someone tells me
